Our Story
When I was sixteen years old, I read "The Picture of Dorian Gray" and I was immediately enamored with storytelling.
I wanted a better outcome for Dorian, but I had also become obsessed with how dark and secret feelings could be expressed
in a way that didn't judge, but could instead reflect in a way that could heal. I immediately wrote a short story after
completing that book, exploring feelings of abandonment, fear, inevitability, and death. Soon after I would join a class
for writing books, and complete my first novel that explored self-identity and the struggle between fathers and sons through
trauma. Over the years since I would go on to write two more unpublished books.
In 2016 I began to flesh out some of my ideas, and attempted to create this company not knowing anything about building a business.
The core idea was to make reading fun. Wandering Guide Publishing was the first name and idea I started to pursue in-person events
that would reinvent how people bought and sold books. Not knowing what I was doing, the idea stalled out, and I let go of the idea
entirely.
This year, I revisited the idea for two reasons. I had enough expendible income to keep the company's success afloat through my day job
through sheer force of will. I grew tired of arguing with others about why we should help each other, and tired of excusing the lack
of positive change in others. My goal quickly became to create a different kind of company — one that could be profitable in a largely
unprofitable marketspace, while prioritizing the value of the customer and the care of the employee. So I got to work on creating
something different. My focus landed on added value, business transparency, AI accountability, and creator agency.
Our story is just starting, but I hope that you will join me as I work to create something truly unique and share with you honestly
the ways I believe we can rewrite our current chapter into a story that benefits humanity and rebuilds community.
